Streeton at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

“Arthur Streeton’s brilliant evocations of light, land and sea are among the most enduring and popular paintings for many Australians. His sun-drenched impressionist landscapes from the 1880s, joyful depictions of Sydney Harbour in the 1890s, and pastoral paintings from the 1920s and 1930s continue to define an image of our unique environment.”
From the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Running between Nov 7th 2020 – Feb 14th 2021, Streeton revisits the rich oeuvre of Arthur Streeton, following his journeys across Australia, Egypt and Europe. From his ability to capture the unique Australian sunlight, to his advocacy for the natural environment, Streeton’s landscapes elicit nostalgia and astonishment.
